A rare screening of the 1957 horror classic with a talk by Tony Earnshaw – author of Beating the Devil: the Making of Night of the Demon.
This vintage chiller puts the ‘Cult’ into Culture at the Babylon gallery, Ely. This rare screening has been organized by cult film enthusiast, Kit  Lewis, and will include a talk by Tony Earnshaw, author of Beating the Devil – which tells the troubled story of how the movie was made, including getting past the British censors! Night of the Demon is based on an MR James story, Casting the Runes, and follows John Holden, a sceptical psychologist who falls foul of the leader of a sinister cult and finds he must race against time to cheat the curse put on him. Tony will be signing copies of his book afterwards.

Don’t forget this weekend the Classic Horror Campaign is coming to Manchester for two evenings of fearfull fun! As a special treat, celebrated writer Tony Earnshaw will be our guest at the Lass O’Gowrie pub on Saturday evening! You will get the chance to buy copies of his hard-to-find book “Beating the Devil : The Making of Night of the Demon” and to meet the man himself – why not buy a copy and get it autographed at the same time?

The fun starts on Saturday 23rd July at 7pm with movie screenings starting at 8pm with Night of the Demon (1957) followed by Vampire Circus (1972). You can buy tickets on the door if they are still available or buy them in advance from here!

You will also get a chance to meet top gothic photographer Amanda Norman, who will be available to commission exclusive horror portraits for those lucky few!

Then on Sunday 24th July we shall be screening Val Lewton’s classic Cat People (1942) followed by Scream & Scream Again (1970). The fun starts at 6:30pm and you can buy tickets on the door if still available or buy them online to avoid disappointment!
