New Series Of A History of Horror!

Fangtastic news has emerged as Mark Gatiss announced on Twitter that he was filming a second series of A History of Horror for BBC4. Quote from @Markgatiss on Twitter -

“Very pleased to say I’m making a follow-up to my ‘History of Horror’ for BBC4: Euro Horror! At last ‘Nosferatu’ gets its due…”

News is very thin on the ground at the moment but the Classic Horror Campaign has its ears to the ground and will bring you more updates as we hear them! All we know for certain is that the series will have an emphasis on European horror films and that Gatiss is off to interview Dario Argento next week. There is also talk of a screening of the classic Nosferatu (1922) to complement the documentaries as well as a heavy emphasis on Italian horror including Mario Bava and the aforementioned Dario Argento.

The first series of A History of Horror was first aired to great acclaim on BBC4 back in October 2010 and the Classic Horror Campaign was interviewed for BBC One’s Points of View series to discuss classic horror movies and the campaign at the time. The BBC crew we spoke to told me that there were a couple of producers at the Beeb who were very keen on making more classic horror-related documentaries so hopefully this is just the start of something more ongoing.

BLOOD AND BONE CHINA!!

Blood and Bone China is a brand new Victorian Vampire web series which owes a lot to our favourite classic Hammer Horror movies of the past. Created and directed by award-winning film-maker Chris Stone, you can watch the show on Youtube and on the Blood and Bone China website.

CINEFANTASTIQUE BACK IN PRINT!

The legendary sci-fi, horror and fantasy film journal CINEFANTASTIQUE is releasing two brand new print magazines this year – a ZOMBIES special and an all-new mag called VAMPYRIA featuring True Blood and Vampire Diaries amongst many other genre favourites. The fab news is that they are being edited by genre publishing legend Jessie Lilley of Famous Monsters and Mondo Cult fame!

SHIVERS! Canadian Genre Film Festival Hits London

A one-day festival devoted to Canadian horror and genre films is taking place at the Roxy Bar & Screen in London on May 20th from 3pm!

Put together by Justin Harries of Filmbar70 and Vince D’Amato of Creepy Six Films, this momentous movie event will bring both new and cult films from Canadian filmmakers to big screens across London. Hopefully the first of many such events, the programme includes The Red Hours, Deaden, $lasher$ and The Hard Cut Double/Feature.
