Today brought the sad news that stop motion special-effects legend Ray Harryhausen died today aged 92. He will be fondly remembered by classic horror, sci-fi and fantasy film fans across the globe for his imaginative creations in such films as It Came From Beneath The Sea (1955), Jason and The Argonauts (1963), The Golden Voyage of Sinbad (1973) and Clash of the Titans (1981). The Classic Horror Campaign in association with the new Space Monsters Magazine had planned to screen two of Harryhausen’s classic films Earth Vs The Flying Saucers (1956) and First Men In The Moon (1964) as part of a Classic Sci-Fi Double Bill on Sunday 16th June with Ray’s colleague and special effects expert Alan Friswell as our special guest. The screening will still be taking place in the form of a Ray Harryhausen tribute and we shall be contacting Mr Friswell to check that he is still able to attend.
