Rue Morgue magazine has a tradition of combining coverage of contemporary horror alongside a celebration of the classics and the roots of horror in movies and culture.

Universal Pictures’ adaptation of the successful stage play based on Bram Stoker’s gothic vampire novel Dracula was a massive success and started off the first wave of horror movie mania across the world. This led to a whole range of monster movies featuring vampires, werewolves, mummies and the Frankenstein monster which captured the publics imagination.
