Saturday 25th February is a date all horror fans should put into their diaries as The Macabre Market rolls back into Brighton on Britain’s spooky South coast. The scary stall holders once again take over The Rock Inn’s Haunted Basement with a spine-chilling selection of ghoulish goods, mysterious music , bizarre book signings and ghost story readings….

The market opens at 12 noon and is FREE to enter….if you dare!


Hemlock Books will be selling a selection of horror magazines, fanzines and books including issues of Diabolique Magazine at a special event day price! It’s their first time at Frighten Brighton, so please welcome them with open arms!

The Shane Briant Store is also making its Brighton debut with a feast of fab merchandise celebrating Hammer Films classic horror hero!

House of Secrets returns after a successful event last year and continues to gain new fans with their gothic romance, horror and pulp novels alongside classic horror movie tie-in paperbacks from decades past.

Doll Doll Dolly also makes a triumphant return with her horror film inspired accessories and gothic hand-made gifts.

Billy Chainsaw is a horror legend who needs no introduction and serves up a selection of horror themed greetings cards. Billy can currently be found amongst the pages of both Shock Horror Magazine and Bizarre Magazine.

Handmade Brighton is also coming to the Haunted Basement to sell her gothic and Victorian-inspired artwork and designs.

N.J. Hallard is the best-selling author of Breaking News : An Autozombiography and will once again appear in person to sign copies of his terrifying zombie novel, promote his unique artwork and give an exclusive preview of his upcoming sequel Rising Up.

Lisamarie Lamb shares the horror writer limelight and will be selling and signing copies of her work. Her books include Mother’s Helper and Somebody’s at the Door.

And that’s not all! There will also be stalls from artist Phoebe Kirk, booksellers and publishers Wallflower Press, the terrifyingly talented Saffron Reichenbacker and many more!


So come and join your fellow horror fans at the Macabre Market from 12noon at The Rock Inn’s Haunted Basement. As well as the stalls and book signings there will be live music and ghost story readings.

And from 2pm in the Scary Screening Room upstairs the Frighten Brighton crew will be showing Hammer Films’ classic Frankenstein and the Monster From Hell (1974) FREE OF CHARGE on a first-come, first-seated basis!!!!

Finally, if you’ve got the stomach for it, you can stay and watch The Horror Double Bill of The Gore Gore Girls (1972) and Re-Animator (1985) from 5pm for only £6 per person ….and that’s for BOTH films!!! A real recession-busting bargain!
