Britain’s iconic Hammer Films, home of past horror hits The Curse of Frankenstein (1957), Dracula (1958) and The Devil Rides Out (1968) returns to the top of the US box-office with The Woman in Black (2012) this weekend. After an impressive opening, this spooky ghost story starring Harry Potter ‘s Daniel Radcliffe in a much more adult role looks set to take upwards of $20 million this weekend alone. Based on a best-selling novel by Susan Hill, The Woman in Black became a West End phenomenon when it was adapted into a successful stage play. In the 80′s it was turned into an ITV movie for television and now it looks like becoming the cinematic horror sensation of the year.
Reviews for the film have been excellent so far and expectations amongst classic horror film fans are running high. You can all judge for yourselves when The Woman in Black is released in the UK on Friday February 10th.
